A Jamestown native, Andy Young is a Western New Yorker through and through. A sports anchor, reporter, and director, it’s safe to say that Andy is an expert in his field. As a reporter, he enjoys learning new things about his community and keeping people informed of what’s happening here. An Associated Press winner, Andy has recently produced one of his most meaningful projects about an Olympic journey.
Since joining Spectrum News in 2011, Andy has covered countless meaningful stories. However, one that sticks out to him is his coverage of a local football star who seemed to have it all, yet secretly hid his battle with depression and addiction. Andy was lucky enough to cover the courageous process this young man went through when going public about his struggles, ultimately raising awareness and support for mental health issues that affect hundreds of people in his community and beyond.
When Andy isn’t reporting, he loves to explore the outdoors with his family. His favorite thing about Buffalo is all the great restaurants and bars there are to go to. His favorite? El Canelo in Hamburg and the Ebenezer Ale House in West Seneca are in a deadlocked tie for first.
