According to the National Weather Service, just before 4 p.m. Monday, severe thunderstorms located over Pavilion turned into a Tornado Warning about 10 miles southeast of Batavia, with winds moving east around 35 miles an hour.

Residents say they witnessed branches and other debris flying, with one person even having a tree torn from their front yard.

Damage from high intensity winds is still visible, with fallen debris on many of the roadways in the area and even downed trees and power lines.

"Today was ugly," said Dean Davis, of Pavilion. "I wasn’t here, I did watch a lot of it on my Ring camera and it was kind of scary. My wife and grandkids were here and pretty much feared a tornado, so they tucked into the basement to make sure and what an eye-opening thing when I got home from work tonight. That'd about bring a tear to your eye."

Flash Flooding Alerts were also issued in Erie, Wyoming and Genesee counties.

As for now, residents say they are grateful the worst of it is over.

According to area utility companies, at least 10,000 people across Western New York and the Finger Lakes lost power in the storms.
