Dawson Knox had a breakout third season in the NFL in 2021, tied for second among tight ends with nine touchdown catches.
A fantastic jump, but still not where Knox wants to be.
"I think it's important to have confidence and to know that you can go out and do what you want to do,” Knox said. “But at the same time, you don't ever want to feel comfortable or complacent. So it's all about building on it and just taking another step too, because I don't feel like I've hit the pinnacle of my game. I feel like I've just started to scratch the surface. So ready to take another step."
This would be the perfect timing for another step, as Knox becomes an unrestricted free agent after this season.
Though, he's not feeling the pressure of the unknown.
"I don't think it's any different than any other year,” Knox said. “You start thinking too much about stuff like that, it's just going to distract you from how you play on the field. So it's just same old year, same old thing."
What's different is how tight ends might be used this season beyond Knox, especially with the addition of former first-round pick OJ Howard.
"There's going to be so much versatility to this offense now, 12, 13 personnel, Knox said. “Bring us in, run the ball. Spread us out, get us good match-ups. And he's a great dude too, so he's just kind of increasing the work ethic of the whole group. Any time you can increase competition in the group it's just going to make the whole group better."
As Knox looks to best his best.
