BUFFALO, N.Y. — Efforts to try and save Buffalo’s Great Northern Grain Elevator continue.

The Buffalo Common Council passed a resolution asking to once again delay plans to demolish the historic structure.

The building’s owner, Archer Daniels Midland, plans to level the 124-year-old grain elevator since it was heavily damaged in a wind storm last month.

The Common Council unanimously agreed further efforts to preserve the structure need to be considered, asking ADM to look at possible alternatives.

The Campaign for Great Buffalo History, Architecture and Culture is appealing a court ruling from last week.

A judge decided to uphold an emergency demolition order from the city, saying the structure is a danger to its surroundings in its current state.
