Many parents have been pulling double duty throughout the pandemic, with kids at home while they try to work.
Katie Ksiezarczyk is a busy woman. “It’s definitely a balancing act to make sure you’re a good employee, a good mom and everything else in-between,” Katie said.
She’s a wife and mother of two young children. She’s also been working from home some of time throughout the pandemic.
“It’s extremely difficult,” she said. “My job requires a lot of concentration and it’s very difficult to start and stop my job which a lot of jobs are the same way.”
Normally, her kids go to daycare. But things got even tougher when they were forced to stay home because of COVID-19 quarantines after there was an exposure to someone who tested positive.
“I’m able to work around my kid’s schedule,” she said. “Some people are not that fortunate. But it is definitely one of the harder things that I’ve done.”
She’s in a spot many parents face. What to do with their kids when child care is not an option.
“It’s definitely a challenge to make sure that everybody is staying safe and making sure they’re occupied while working and everything in-between,” she said.
She tries to make sure the kids stay on schedule, and help her son with some of his school work.
“I’m looking very much forward to having our routine back,” she said. “I personally thrive on routine and my kids I feel the same way. I think most people. But I’m looking forward to them going back to school.”
In the meantime, she’s doing her best to be the best employee, and the best mom she can be.
“I give a stay-at-home parents a lot of credit,” she said. “I give parents that are working right now a lot of credit.”
