Karen Caruso, who owns New York International Style, Inc., says that like so many aspects of life, wedding ceremonies have looked very different during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to event planners, some couples are requiring that their guests show proof of vaccinations and be masked.
"The way the couples are working together, it's amazing. I think actually this is strengthening a lot of relationships. If you can get through this in the beginning of your marriage, the rest is cake," says Caruso.

One couple who got married during the pandemic, Anna Sharpe and Gian Misso, believes the event was at least as special as it would have been earlier. Sharpe says that though everything about the planning was different, down to trying on her dress.
"It was a little bit strange. I have pictures with me trying it on with my mask on," says Sharpe.
The couple originally planned to have a very public wedding, but as the pandemic continued, they decided to do something smaller and more intimate in their backyard.
"It was really fun. We got to make it more unique to us," adds Sharpe.
"By the end of the day, a wedding is just an elevated party with your friends and family and the person that you love the most in life," says Misso.
Sharpe and Misso learned that whether a wedding is big or small, with pandemic restrictions or not, it's about being with people you care about.
According to Statista, as of 2020 in the United States, 62% of couples had their guests social distance during wedding ceremonies.
