Playoffs? Yes, people are talking about playoff football again in Western New York. The Bills (9-3) have a strong chance to make it back for the second time in three years, and fans can now score tickets for a possible home playoff game ahead of time.

Buffalo's one of several teams across the NFL to open up home playoff ticket sales Thursday for the Wild Card, Divisional, and Conference Championship rounds.

It's a new league-wide policy this year for clubs who are leading their division, or within three games of the lead and have a winning record. The Bills are firmly in that mix, in second place in the AFC East, one game behind the New England Patriots.

NFL Vice President of Communications Brian McCarthy said it's aimed at "making postseason tickets available earlier in the run-up to the Playoffs to ensure that our fans have as much advanced notice, accessibility and choice to secure their postseason tickets."

In the past, fans often had less than a week to buy tickets after the final week of the regular season and their team locked up a postseason berth.

The Bills opened up about 10,000 seats to sell for each round of the playoffs, available only through Ticketmaster.

Season ticket holders already had the option to purchase their playoff tickets when they bought their regular season seats.

Prices range from $65-407 for the wild card and divisional rounds. The costs jump to $140-469 for the AFC Championship game.

If the Bills are eliminated or playing on the road, those who purchased tickets will get a refund.

The chances of the Bills making the postseason are pretty high. Sites like fivethirtyeight.com and The New York Times give them a better than 90 percent shot to keep playing into January. However, their path to hosting a game is far less likely, but they could in one scenario where they manage to win their final four games and take the division title over the Patriots.

The home stretch starts on Sunday at New Era Field against the red-hot Baltimore Ravens (10-2).

Buffalo can clinch a playoff berth this week with a victory, along with a loss or tie by Oakland, a loss or tie by Indianapolis and a loss by Houston.

Home or away, playoff fever is likely headed to Buffalo.
