A mother is looking for answers one year after her daughter's unsolved murder.

Tonya Harvey was shot and killed last February 6 on Shepherd Street in Buffalo.

The case received national attention because she was the third transgender person to be murdered across the country just one month into 2018.

One year later, another rally was held on the steps of City Hall, demanding justice for Harvey and respect for transgender lives.

"There is still no justice. We want justice. Our community is not safe, we're not safe. So, we're asking for justice,” said Arnester Harvey, Tonya’s mother.

Members of her family and transgender advocates believe it was a hate crime, saying she was targeted for being transgender.
