High temperatures have been below average across central North Carolina since May 4.  Wednesday will be the last day for these cool May temperatures before much warmer air arrives for the rest of the week and the weekend.

Mostly cloudy skies along a few early morning sprikles will give way to partly sunny skies in the afternoon.   Highs will just reach the upper 60s and low 70s.  That's around 10 degrees below average for May 13.

Lows are forecast to drop to the 50s late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning.

Warmer air will arrive in North Carolina Thursday bringing highs back to near normal, or around 80.  Even warmer temperatures are forecast for Friday and the weekend.  Saturday and Sunday will have a summer like feel with highs in the upper 80s.  Some locations in the Sandhills could even hit 90.

Warm weather is then expected to continue through next week.
