All this cold weather could have folks in North Carolina dreaming about a tropical vacation. A pair of new flights out of Raleigh-Durham International Airport could make that a reality.
RDU continues to add to their growing list of international flights with service to Jamaica and the Dominican Republic soon, the airport announced Wednesday.
Beginning Feb. 12, 2025, Avelo Airlines said they will offer seasonal nonstop flights from Raleigh to Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, Jamaica and Punta Cana Airport in Dominican Republic.
Flights are available to book now and will run twice a week.
Wednesday brought more news to Concord-Padgett Regional Airport, as Avelo announced two new nonstop destinations — Daytona Beach, Florida (DAB) and Nashville, Tennessee (BNA). The airline said it will create up to 50 new jobs.
Fares start at $44 and are available to book now. Flights to Daytona start April 3, followed by Nashville flights on April 4; both routes will operate twice weekly.
“Our Queen City Customers tell us they have loved flying Avelo since we took flight at USA six months ago. The fast and easy, small hometown airport experience Charlotte-Concord Airport offers is a relaxing alternative to CLT,” Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy said. “Avelo’s new Charlotte base will enable us to bring more affordable, convenient and industry-leading reliability to even more destinations.”
It isn’t the only impact the airline has made on the state in recent months. In early November, Avelo launched a new nonstop service from Albany International Airport (ALB) and the Charlotte area’s Concord-Padgett Regional Airport. They were the first airline to offer the route.
The additions will expand Avelo’s impact at the airport to nine routes in all.
