North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper tested positive for COVID Monday, he said on social media.

The governor said the symptoms are mild and he is "feeling fine."

"I’m working remotely for the rest of the week and ready to be back out and about by the weekend," Cooper said.

The number of COVID-19 cases has been relatively stable in North Carolina in recent months, according to data from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

The state has stoped publishing regular numbers for people who test positive, but still give weekly updates on wastewater monitoring and hospitalizations.

There was an average of 181 people hospitalized with the virus in North Carolina last week.

This is the second time the North Carolina governor has tested positive for COVID. He was last diagnosed with the virus in June 2022.
