DURHAM, N.C. – Three Duke graduate students, who have been traveling overseas, tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, according to a statement from Duke on Friday.
According to Duke Vice President for Adminstration and Emergency Coordinator Kyle J. Cavanaugh, the students had been traveling as part of a group. The students are receiving treatment outside the United States and will remain there until they have recovered.
The school also announced that more students were part of the group and have returned to Duke. They are in self-isolation off campus for at least 14 days under medical supervision. Students who have symptoms of the coronavirus have been tested and are awaiting the results.
“We are optimistic for the full recovery of these individuals and remain grateful to health care providers around the world for their courage and commitment,” Cavanaugh said.
Duke has set up a website for updates on information and policies concerning coronavirus.
