NORTH CAROLINA -- Clouds will continue to dominate our sky Saturday afternoon as isolated showers track east over the Carolinas.

Due to the clouds and rain, highs will be below average ranging from the upper 40s to mid 50s. Rain coverage and intensity will increase Saturday night and through early Sunday morning. Clearing will spread west to east across North Carolina beginning midday Sunday. By sunset Sunday, rain will be over for the state.

Winds will pick up Sunday night, leading to a breezy day Monday as high pressure grows into the region. Expect sunny skies Monday as cool winds lead to highs near 50 Monday afternoon. Some wind gusts Monday may reach 30 mph. High pressure will linger through much of the workweek.

Expect dry and sunny weather through Thursday.
