Central North Carolina will see some much needed rain through Wednesday morning.  Rainfall should range between a quarter of an inch to less than one inch.

This is not a drought busting rain, but it is putting a small dent into the rainfall deficit.  Since September 1, the Triangle is over four inches below normal for rainfall.  The Fayetteville area is over two inches below normal.

Most of Wednesday's rain will fall in the morning through midday.  The should will taper off through the afternoon and come to an end all together before the end of the day.

It will be breezy Wednesday afternoon as the rain ends.  Wind gusts up to 25mph are possible.

High temperatures will range from the upper 60s to near 70 in the Triangle to the low and mid 70s south and southeast of Raleigh.

Clear skies Wednesday night will allow temperatures to drop to the 40s by sunrise Thursday morning.

Sunny weather is expected for the opening of the North Carolina State Fair Thursday.  Highs temperatures will just warm to the low and mid 60s.

Dry weather will continue through the end of the week and the first half of the weekend.  Rain chances will then return by Sunday and early next week.
