FORT BRAGG, N.C. -- Members of the Fort Bragg community are remembering a 41-year-old Green Beret killed in Afghanistan Monday.

Sgt. First Class Jeremy Griffin was in the middle of combat when he was killed by small arms fire.

Colonel Owen Ray says Griffin was "warriar" as well as a "respected and loved special forces soldier."

The Tennessee native joined the army in 2004, deployed with the 82nd Airborne Division to Iraq in 2006 and 2009, and was on his fourth combat deployment when he died.

He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart.
