HOPE MILLS, N.C. -- This summer, there hasn't been a lot of swimming at Hope Mills Lake, but that's about to change.
- There's many recreational activities already happening at the lake
- The swimming site at the lake reopens on Monday
- Part of the park at the lake close to the gazebo is still roped off
Work on a new bulkhead and ramp forced the closure of the swimming area. The town has announced that the construction has been finished ahead of schedule. So, the swimming area will once again be opened to the public.
There's many recreational activities already happening at the lake. Fishing, kayaking, and boating to name a few. Having swimming returning gives residents even more incentive to spend time out by the lake.
"They have so much outdoor recreation areas, so it's good to have this in the area where kids can get out of the house, not on the electronics," resident Tara Blue said.
The swimming site at the lake reopens on Monday. Part of the park at the lake close to the gazebo is still roped off. That's to allow some sod, or grass that's been placed there, more time to grow.
