Crews spent Wednesday cleaning up the remaining rubble and debris from the scene. Spectrum News caught bystander Tracey Chipps snapping pictures. She said it's like a piece of her history is gone.

"But this building and the buildings around it have a lot of memories for me. I've had a lot of nice dinners in this area. I met one of my true loves in one of the buildings that's being torn down. So now I feel like a piece of me is being taken away," she said.

Back in April a utility worker cut a gas line prompting a gas leak. Something then ignited the fumes, sparking the explosion. The blast instantly killed coffee shop owner Kong Lee. PSNC worker Jay Rambeaut died several days later from his injuries after helping to contain the leak at the site. Some nearby damaged buildings are still condemned forcing businesses to close.

The NC Department of Labor and city officials say the investigation continues into what sparked the explosion.
