NORTH CAROLINA -- German grocer Lidl has announced 25 new locations, including six in the Tar Heel State.
The company says it is a part of their expansion along the East Coast, planning to open the new stories in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York by Spring 2020.
The new N.C. locations are as follows:
- Charlotte - Monroe Road
- Cary - NC-55
- Matthews - Margaret Wallace Road
- Greensboro - W. Gate City Boulevard
- Raleigh - North Carolina Buffaloe Road
- Wilmington - Eastwood Road
There will also be store closures in N.C. The company says, "as part of this move to operate in the most convenient locations, Lidl will also close two stores in Rockingham and Kinston, North Carolina this summer. All employees there will be given the opportunity to relocate and work at other stores within Lidl's growing markets."
A hiring event will also be held to fill 100 positions at the regional headquarters and distribtion center in Alamance County.
