WAKE COUNTY, N.C. – Deputies with the Wake County Sheriff’s Office are no longer allowed to wear sunglasses when conducting official business.
- The memo says deputies are no longer allowed to wear sunglasses when conducting business.
- This ban includes on the top of the head.
- They are still allowed to wear them while driving.
In a memo sent to the department in March, deputies were told sunglasses were not to be worn atop of the head/forehead or worn on the face while conducting official business when engaging the public.
The ban does not include when deputies are not conducting official business with the public, such as when they're driving.
The ban, according to the memo, is effective immediately.
