After a quiet weather week, we'll end it with a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Friday.

An area of low pressure will move toward the Carolinas during the night. As it does so, clouds will continue to increase through the overnight hours. We may see a few spotty showers develop during the night and there could be a few showers around for the morning commute on Friday.

With daytime heating, the atmosphere may become a little more unstable by the afternoon and this is when we may see a few strong to severe thunderstorms. The main severe weather threat would be the possibility of storms with strong, damaging winds.

Let me point out, that this system is nothing like the severe weather system we dealt with last Friday. This is more of an isolated severe weather threat as compared to the widespread severe weather activity we saw on April 19.

The good news is that this system will keep moving and high pressure will give us a return to mostly sunny skies for the weekend.  Highs on Saturday will be near normal for the end of April with Sunday's high going above average.
