ORANGE COUNTY, N.C. – According to radar, a tornado has touched down in Orange County near Hillsborough, Carrboro, and Chapel Hill.

Heavy damage along the exit to Hillsborough from I-40 indicates it may have touched down on Old Highway 86.

Power lines are down across HWY 86 where the tornado hit. This house has sustained major damage. HWY 86 is shutdown from I-40 to New Hope Church Rd. @SpecNewsRDU @SpecNewsTriad pic.twitter.com/pf5X5PZftt

Multiple tornado warnings and watches were also issued in the area.
