Folks in the Sandhills always see a lot of what appears to be yellow piles of dust. For allergy sufferers, this time of year is awful. We spoke with some folks about this while they were at a local car wash, trying to clean all the pollen off of their vehicles.
"It's beautiful. The flowers that are blooming and all but the season it just has you so stopped up, your eyes running, itchy. I mean the allergies are terrible," said Sherry Kenny. She's dealing with the allergies herself.
And because of the recent history of warmer weather, higher pollen counts may be the new norm. Not good news for for people with allergies. But one group is benefiting from all the pollen: car wash businesses.
"Just yesterday, kind of gloomy like today but yesterday we did record setting for us -- 1,160 cars. Which is awesome," said Tucker Tharrington. He's the manager at TLC Express Wash on Skibo Road.
