DURHAM, N.C. -- Police have identified a suspect after a stabbing at the Streets at Southpoint Mall Sunday evening.

  • Authorities say the employee approached two female shoplifters, and was stabbed by one of them.
  • The victim was stabbed in the lower stomach and taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
  • Two suspects have not been arrested and fled the scene.

Natoyia Barbee, 35, was charged with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Barbee is not in custody at this time.

The victim is said to be a loss prevention officer at the Macy's at the mall and it happened on the second floor.

Authorities say the officer approached Barbee and another female shoplifter, and was stabbed by one of them.

The victim was stabbed in the lower stomach and taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Barbee and the other suspect fled the scene in a four-door sedan.

Anyone with information of the stabbing or whereabouts of the suspects is asked to call police immediately.
