WAKE COUNTY, N.C. -- Kyron Hinton, the man at the center of a police brutality case in Wake County, has passed away.

Hinton was found dead Saturday evening.

Supporters spoke outside of the Light House in Raleigh Sunday, the place where they stood in support of him last April.

They say he worked to get his life back on track. Many in the community tried to help but they say the struggle of mental illness and self medicating was too much.

The video of Hinton's arrest at Yonkers Road and Raleigh Boulevard, last April, lead to the arrest and charges against several law enforcement officers from the State Highway Patrol and a Wake County Sheriff's deputy.

The cause of Hinton's death has not been released.
