ABERDEEN, N.C. -- Earl Wright, also known as Project Santa, was hard at work Sunday preparing for Christmas on Tuesday.

  • For more than two decades, Wright has been fixing and repairing bikes and then giving them to children on Christmas Day.
  • The 23rd annual Project Santa Christmas Bike Giveaway will get started at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
  • Kids and their parents are asked to bring three cans of food to donate.

For more than two decades, Wright has been fixing and repairing bikes and then giving them to children on Christmas Day.

This year, he hopes to have about 1,800 bikes for the holiday event.

The 23rd annual Project Santa Christmas Bike Giveaway will get started at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

It will be held at the old IGA parking lot on Broad Street in Southern Pines.

Kids and their parents are asked to bring three cans of food to donate.
