CARY, N.C. -- A 15-week journey ended Saturday for 20 North Carolina Highway Patrol cadets.
- 20 new state troopers will report to their duty stations next month.
- It was a 15-week process.
- New troopers say the experience is "something in itself."
During a special ceremony, those new troopers took their oath of service after completing four months of training at the North Carolina Highway Patrol's Basic School. New troopers like Chad Harrington says he made the choice to follow this path because the experience isn't like anything else.
"I'm previous law enforcement. I come from a different agency. But, to become a state trooper is something in itself," Harrington said. "The training is like no other. To be the best, you've got to play with the best."
His first duty station will be in Wake County.
Each of the 20 new troopers will report to their assigned duty stations on June 13. There, they will begin an intense field training program before they start their patrols.
