After a cold day on Thursday, we're going to see a cold night on Thursday night with a "slight" warm-up on Friday.

Temperatures on Thursday afternoon ran 15 to 20 degrees below average for the later part of December.  This will set the stage for overnight lows tonight also dropping to below normal levels.  We'll see more sun with some clouds on Friday.  This will allow for slightly milder, but below normal, afternoon highs on Friday.

After another cold start on Saturday morning, we can expect another slight rise in daytime highs on Saturday.  A cold front will cross North Carolina on Saturday afternoon and the cold air behind this system will drop temperatures again on Sunday.  This new cold air will set us up for a cold start to 2018.
