The cold rain across the region will end from west to east as we get through Wednesday afternoon, then clearing overnight and cold Thursday morning with temperatures bottoming out in the upper teens near the Virginia border to mid 20s across the Sandhills.

Ample sunshine for Thursday but continued cold. Some of the northern area may not get above freezing, while the rest of central North Carolina will see highs in mostly in the mid 30s.

Only a slight warm up for Friday and Saturday before another shot at cold air arrives for New Year’s Eve Day. If you are going to be outside ringing in the new year you will have to bundle up as temperatures will be dropping into the teens. Cold temperatures will stick with us as we head into the new workweek.
