HICKORY, N.C. —The City of Hickory will soon be featured on the national television series “World’s Greatest!...” on Bloomberg TV after being selected as the “World’s Greatest City” by How 2 Media.

The city is nestled in Catawba County, about 60 miles northwest of Charlotte. Hickory Mayor Hank Guess described being overjoyed and excited for the city to appear on the show.

“Hickory’s people and close-knit sense of community make our city great,” Guess said in a news release. “Those of us fortunate enough to live, work, and/or visit Hickory already know that Hickory is a special place. This show is a wonderful opportunity to showcase Hickory and all it has to offer to the rest of the world.” 

The show airing on Bloomberg TV is in its 18th season and takes the audience on a tour of the world’s greatest companies, products, places and people through behind-the-scenes footage, interviews and visuals.

Producers researched hundreds of cities globally and met with many city leaders.

“Hickory immediately captured our attention,” said Frank Oppizzi, senior producer for the “World’s Greatest!...” TV Show in the news release. “The more we researched this city and spoke with its leaders, the more we realized this city had a unique and remarkable story to share."

A film crew was sent to Hickory, learning about the city’s history, people and craftsmanship, learning why the city considers itself to be "Life. Well crafted," which is their motto, according to the city's website. 

Hickory will be featured in a 3-minute segment during episode 357, including interviews with Mayor Hank Guess, City Councilwomen and Mayor Pro Tempore Charlotte Williams, City Manager Warren Wood and Catawba County Economic Development Corporation President Scott Millar.
