ASHEBORO, N.C. -- The North Carolina Zoo will temporarily close after an employee was fatally injured in a workplace accident on Thursday.

RELATED STORIES:

"The entire zoo community is deeply saddened by this loss and our thoughts and sympathies are with the family of our team member," stated the park in a release.

The zoo has already closed the Africa section of the park and will close the entire park at 2:00 p.m.

As of now, the zoo is working with investigators to determine details of the incident, which reportedly had nothing to do with any of the animals, but rather an employee, Branson Langley, falling 20-30 feet from a tree.

The zoo will reopen on Friday, July 19 at 9a.m.
