While this month is on track to be one of the snowiest on record in Boone, Asheville is struggling to receive even average snowfall amounts.

January is traditionally the snowiest month in the Asheville area, averaging 4.1" for the monthly total.
Boone, on the other hand, is picking up all the snow Asheville is lacking!

In a typical January, Boone gets 10.1". The snowiest January on record took place in 1987 when Boone picked up 36" – three feet – of snowfall.
If January were to end today, this month would tie as the 10th-snowiest January on record in Boone.
Our next chance for accumulating snow in Boone and above 3500 feet will be Wednesday night. We’ll be fine-tuning those potential amounts on Spectrum News 1.
