John Drescher, currently a contributing editor with The Assembly magazine in North Carolina, recently wrote an article on the controversy at UNC Chapel Hill over Nikole Hannah-Jones and her pursuit of tenure with the university. 

On this week’s episode of Tying It Together With Tim Boyum, Tim talks with Drescher about the article, which gained national attention, the controversy over Hannah-Jones and the challenges it presents for his alma mater.

We’ll also talk with Drescher, who was executive editor at the Raleigh News & Observer for a decade during the industry decline from 2007 to 2018, about the current state of the newspaper industry, journalism as a whole and its future.
