ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Arc of Monroe is celebrating more than 70 years of empowering people of all abilities. Thursday night is the big "Dancing with the Arc Foundation" dance contest.

Participants in the Arc Foundation of Monroe fundraiser have all the dance moves down and are ready to entertain. Five Arc participants are paired with five Rochester area celebrities to win votes while raising money for Arc programs.

  • Vote for your favorite dancers and help raise money to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities 

  • There are 37 Arc chapters serving more than 60,000 New Yorkers.

DeVaughn Winert says he loves the art program at the Arc. On the dance floor, he’s known for his booty shake. He’s paired up with Spectrum News 1's Dana Damiani.

"I like to do painting. I like to watch movies, and I like friends,” said Winert. “I like practicing the songs [like] 'Greased Lightning' and ['Grease'] is a fun movie.”

Dancing with the Arc is Thursday at the home of the Rochester Red Wings. Gates open at 5 p.m., and showtime is at 6 p.m. You can vote for your favorite dancers online at arcMonroefoundation.org. The more votes, the more funds raised to empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
