MENASHA, Wis. — Several fire crews responded to the previous Whiting Paper Mill Sunday evening.
Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue said crews were called to 100 River Street just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Additional fire crews were then called to assist in battling the fire.
It was contained by early Monday morning and nobody was injured.
“Another great loss to Menasha history, the Whiting Mill is up in flames," Menasha Mayor Don Merkes wrote in a Facebook post. "NM Fire is on scene protecting neighboring properties."
Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue officials said crews will continue to work Monday to manage the fire.
The investigation is ongoing and officials said it will take multiple days to determine the cause of the fire.
The Whiting Paper Mill was built in 1882.
