NORTH CAROLINA -- Craven County Schools adopted a new year-round calendar for the 2020 and 2021 school year.

In a letter that the board of education posted to Facebook, they say the decision for the change was from the loss of school days over the past decade, mostly from natural disasters.

The first day for students will be August 10.

Winter break will be December 18 to January 5 and the last day of school is May 26.

It also has built-in weather days and is closely aligned with the community college calendar.
