COASTAL -- Storms have caused the North Carolina Department of Transportation to suspend six ferry routes.  

The heavy wind and rain has suspended the Currituck-Knotts Island, Southport-Fort Fisher and Cherry Branch-Minnesott Beach ferries, and all ferries to and from Ocracoke Island.

The Aurora-Bayview Ferry is the only route running on normal schedule. The department is warning people not to drive on N.C. 12 because of the hazardous conditions the storm could bring.
