PENDER COUNTY, N.C. – The National Weather Service in Wilmington confirmed an EF-0 tornado touched down in Pender County Wednesday afternoon.
Officials say it briefly touched down east of U.S. 17 outside of Hampstead at around 3:45 p.m. It was in a wooded area and caused minor tree damage.
The survey team estimates wind speeds of around 65 miles per hour.
