CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. – Police in Emerald Isle are asking for the public’s help in finding the person or persons responsible for stealing red flags from the beach.

• Two red flags were stolen from Emerald Isle.
• The flags are to warn people about dangerous swimming conditions.
• The police are asking for the publics' help.

The flags are used to warn of hazardous conditions and are necessary to let the public know when it’s safe to go in the water.

Police say the flags were taken Sunday night.

One was taken from near The Point, and the other was taken not far from Ocean Drive and Hurst Road.
