  • The department is asking for volunteers of all ages to help build the new and improved Kidsville
  • Six days into construction Hughes says about 300 people have volunteered manpower and supplies to put the playground together

Parks and Recreation Director Foster Hughes says the original Kidsville was 25 years old and made from wood, often causing splinters.

The department is asking for volunteers of all ages to help build the new and improved Kidsville which is made from recycled materials that are expected to last 50 years.

Six days into construction Hughes says about 300 people have volunteered manpower and supplies to put the playground together.

"We plan on getting slides up and things like that so we’re about sixty percent complete. We’ve got to get our playground mulch in, we’ve got to get our fence around the structure,” says Hughes. “And then just a few things on our punch list and we should be finished.”
