CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. -- Paige Winter is advocating for her friend who needs extensive medical care.

Maison Sanz, a 19-year-old from Carteret County, was born with nine congenital heart defects, two left lungs, rotated intestines, several fused vertebrae and six functioning spleens.

His mother, Jada Forcier, says he now needs three organ transplants: a heart, lung and liver.

Paige Winter, who made headlines when she survived a shark attack last month, posted on her Instagram asking for the public's help. Maison is a childhood friend, and she is asking people to buy a shirt to support his medical costs.

The shirts were designed by family friend Brandy Pittman with the help of So and Sew Boutique in Morehead City. The shirts are on sale for $20 each and all money raised goes to Maison and his family.
