The 22nd MEU or, Marine Expeditionary Unit, deployed December 17, 2018.
They traveled through Europe, Africa, and the Middle East for seven months.
Loved ones said it was difficult to be apart.
“It was a chore. We have a five year old son, he was four when he left. But he’s home now. It was a struggle, but it’s done. Today is the best day of my life,” said Heather Baker, wife of LCDR Neal Baker.
In their time overseas the MEU participated in seven operations and 10 exercises.
Col. Michael Perez served as the 22nd MEU’s Commanding Officer and said one of the best parts of Monday’s homecoming was seeing everyone return home safely.
