CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. -- A conviction was overturned for a Camp Lejeune Marine colonel charged with child sex crimes.
- 56-year-old Colonel Daniel Wilson was sentenced in September of 2017 for sexually abusing a child.
- The US Navy-Marine Corps court of criminal appeals overturned his conviction last week.
- The panel will hold a re-hearing to deliver a sentence on the other convictions.
56-year-old Colonel Daniel Wilson was sentenced in September of 2017 for sexually abusing a child and six counts of conduct unbecoming of an officer and a gentlemen, and absence without leave.
Wilson was sentenced to five years and dismissed from service.
The US Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals overturned his conviction last week, saying that the evidence was legally and factually insufficient.
The panel will hold a re-hearing to deliver a sentence on the other convictions.
