NORTH CAROLINA -- James Bradley, the man found guilty of the first degree murder of Elisha Tucker, will spend life in prison without parole, after a jury failed to reach a unanimous decision as to whether his sentencing should include the death penalty.

  • This is the third murder that Bradley has been found guilty of
  • The judge declared a mistrial for the sentencing phase

This is the third murder that Bradley has been found guilty of. He's already served a 25-year sentence for the death of his then 8-year-old step daughter.

He is currently serving 30 years for the murder of a co-worker Shannon Rippy Van Newkirk, whose body was never found.

However, in the search for Van Newkirk, Elisha Tucker's body was found, bound in duck tape in a field in Pender County.

If the jury had reached a unianimous decision for the death penalty, it would have been the first time in 15 years that the death penalty had been given in New Hanover County.

However, one member of the jury could not agree with the rest, resulting in a mistrial.
