MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. -- Carteret County Public School System Superintendent Mat Bottoms announced Adam Olander as Morehead City Middle School's new principal.

  • Olander will transfer from Morehead City Elementary next week
  • He's a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and received his master's degree at UNC Wilmington
  • Previously, he served as assistant principal at West Carteret High School

He will transfer from Morehead City Elementary to Morehead City Middle School next week.

Olander is a native of Boone who earned his undergraduate degree in economics and information systems from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his master's degree in school administration from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

He was a math teacher at West Carteret High School and was chosen as an assistant principal at Havelock High School where he worked for two years. Olander then returned to West Carteret High School to serve as assistant principal in 2012.
