GRANVILLE COUNTY, N.C. -- A man is dead after an accident on Interstate 85 in Granville County.

It happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday near mile marker 202 just south of Oxford.

The State Highway Patrol says a 38-year-old Deon Bobbitt was driving a van northbound when he hit a car head-on killing 51-year-old Curtis Wilkerson.

Wilkerson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bobbitt was taken to the hospital and was last listed in critical condition.

Charges are pending.
