AUSTIN, Texas – One man is dead and another is seriously injured after a crash in South Austin.
Around 1:09 a.m. police were called to South Congress and West William Cannon Drive for a vehicle rescue. Investigators said a vehicle was speeding northbound on South Congress, when it left the roadway and hit the Cap Metro Bus stop.
Arriving EMS pronounced a man in his 20s dead at the scene of the crash.
A trauma alert was declared for another man, in his 30s, who has potentially serious injuries. He was transported to St. David’s South Austin for treatment.
Northbound and southbound South Congress Avenue lanes were closed at the 6500 block while police investigate the crash.
