Our hot streak continues on Saturday, with Heat Advisories still covering half of the state.

What You Need To Know

  • Temperatures will top out in the 90s for many

  • Heat index values near 105 degrees are possible for parts of eastern North Carolina

  • Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, and take breaks in air-conditioned rooms

A Heat Advisory remains in effect on Saturday across most of central and eastern North Carolina. Heat index values could peak at or over 105 degrees for parts of the area.

We won’t be cooling down very much at night, either, with temperatures only dropping to the 70s for most of the state. Although a few locations in the northwestern Piedmont and in the mountains will see overnight lows settle in the 60s.

The showers and storms we're seeing in parts of the state are providing some relief, mainly for our southern counties. The heat index in those counties will be limited to the 90s, which is below the Heat Advisory criteria.

So no matter where you are, be sure to take care of yourself and be on the lookout for signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke in your community.

Continue to hydrate with water and try to limit your time outside during the hottest part of the day, if possible. If you must work outside, take frequent breaks in a cool location.

We'll have another hot and humid day on Sunday, before we get some relief with temperatures next week.
