Spring-like temperatures have been around all week, but we crank it up a notch for Thursday.
What month is it? If you step outside, you might not think that it's still winter. February temperatures in North Carolina have been above average most days, and record-breaking heat is expected Thursday.
As a warm front pushes to our north, winds pick up from the west-southwest. This will continue to push abnormally warm air into the state. Records will fall, and some will shatter.
Raleigh, Greensboro and Fayetteville could break the record high temperatures for Feb. 23 by about five degrees.
Raleigh's record, which was set in 1980, would be one of the longer-standing records to fall in this list.
Record highs for Thursday in Greensboro, Fayetteville and Wilmington were all set in the last six years.
In the mountains and Piedmont, records are also in jeopardy.
Charlotte set a record of 79 in 2018.
The forecast highs for Asheville and Boone are near the record high for both locations. Even if the records don't break in the mountains, 70s in February are out of the ordinary.
If you're a fan of the warmth, enjoy Thursday! A cold front moves in to end the week, and that will bring us back to reality.
