Because of this, Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect for the mountains through Tuesday afternoon for the potential of patchy slick spots on roadways. Snowfall totals will generally be less than one inch, but an inch or two will be possible for elevations above 4,500 feet.
East of the mountains, we'll just look for a quick shot of cold rain Tuesday morning and early Tuesday afternoon. Our entire viewing should be dry by around 5 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, leaving us with quickly clearing skies Tuesday evening.
Overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday, winds will begin to pick up in the mountains. High Wind Watches have been posted for Ashe and Watuaga counties that are set to kick in Wednesday morning with gusts up to 60 mph possible for those areas. East of the mountains, conditions will remain quiet with sunshine returning and highs in the upper 50s.
Dry weather persists through Thursday before rain chances make a comeback Friday into the weekend.
