A steady rain will continue to fall across the area Monday with a low pressure system moving eastward to the south of us. This will continue through the afternoon with drying from northwest to southeast by Monday evening. Rain should come to an end for our whole viewing area shortly after midnight. Rain totals will be heaviest across our southern areas near the South Carolina border, where amounts between 1" and 2" are looking likely. Look for lesser rain totals the farther north and west you go, with the mountains only expected to pick up 0.25" - 0.5"
Tuesday will bring the return of sunshine for Christmas Eve! We'll be dry and mild for the next several days through the end of the week, with highs in the low to mid 60s. Christmas Day will feature a high near 60 in Charlotte under mostly sunny skies.
